Plant Operator

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe operation of the Process Plant (Crushing, Milling, Flotation, Concentrate Handling, Reagents Mixing, Filtration, Tailings) and performing limited maintenance related duties safely.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

• Performing daily equipment walk around and work area inspections to identify, minimize and correct safety hazards and keep equipment properly maintained.
• Performing general inspection and operation of the Crusher, Ball mill, Flotation, Concentrate handling, Reagent mixing plant, Larox Filter and Tailings as per standard procedures.
• Receiving the verbal plant handover report from the outgoing Plant Operators and verifying, through visual inspection of plant to detect faults/malfunction and reporting malfunctions to the Plant Foreman.
• Monitoring product flow and quality in the assigned area, ascertaining that there are no blockages, and reporting anomalies to the Plant Foreman.
• Completing relevant log sheets, closing and signing off at end of shift and handing over to the Plant Foreman.
• Conducting Process Plant equipment pre-start checks after maintenance for defects or faults.
• Cleaning up excess material around the Process Plant using either a skid steer and/or shovel as needed.
• Participating in all relevant company, departmental, sectional and unit SHEC and housekeeping initiatives as stipulated in the set of company procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• Minimum of Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE).
• Metallurgical training will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role working in a mining environment.
• Plant Training i.e., Basic knowledge of base metal processing.
