Role Purpose
• Develop and maintain LOM, medium- and short-term mine designs and schedules for open pit
• Update Ore Reserve report annually according to JORC code
• Delivering effective leadership through 'on the ground' presence and support
• Provide technical guidance and actively improve performance and methodology
• Define and optimise mine planning scenarios to maximise business opportunities
• Effective and timely collaboration and communication with Operations and Mine Planning teams
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
• Plan and schedule mining activities in accordance with safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures
• Develop a flexible and cost focussed approach to planning in order to meet production priorities and targets
• Lead a range of mine planning projects and Ensure adherence to Life of Mine, medium and short term mine schedule and budget
• Oversee and ensure annual mining department budgets, forecast and schedules are delivered within agreed timeframes (Strategic Development Plan, Asset Business Plan, Budget Plan, Forecast and 3Month Rolling Plan)
• Plan, measure and ensure delivery of the compliance to plans
• Interact on a daily basis with mining operations and contractor to ensure that dumps (included acid waste dumps) are built to design and budget. Monitor the dumping progress and modify the dump design as required
• Ongoing technical training and development of the mine planning team
Skills
• Qualified Mining Engineer combined with extensive experience (at least 8 years) in metalliferous operations
• High standards of written and verbal communication
• Proficient in the use of mine design and scheduling software (ideally Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik and Alastri)
• Develop, maintain and share skills with other engineers
• Long, Medium- and Short-term scheduling to ensure mining meets ROM delivery requirements
• Provide sound mine planning inputs for development activities required to ensure that mining can take place into the future as required
