Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017. 

The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition. 

Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.

LV Auto Electrician

We currently have a fantastic career opportunity available for an experienced LV Auto Electrician to join our Maintenance team at Dugald River Mine. 

As Part of the mobile maintenance team the Light Vehicle Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on Light Vehicle and Auxiliary equipment, including underground and surface equipment. This role ensures equipment reliability and compliance with MMG’s safety and operational standards, contributing to the company’s production goals and commitment to sustainability.

This role is based on an 8/7 DS, 7/6 NS roster, bus in bus out from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

Qualifications, skills & Experience

• Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• Current driver’s license.
• Hold a Certificate II or III in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 Years Auto Electrical experience in underground operations.
• Hands-on experience with maintaining and repairing electrical and automation systems in Toyotas, LDV and Auxiliary Equipment
• Familiarity with OEM software and diagnostic tools an advantage.
• Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms) for tracking work orders and equipment history.

 Responsibilities include

• Troubleshoot issues with control systems, communication networks, and onboard diagnostics.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections of electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Replace or repair defective components such as alternators, starters, batteries, and sensors.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules for electrical systems to minimize downtime.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify potential electrical issues before they escalate.
• Required to carry out basic mechanical maintenance including but not limited to compartment oil changes, filter change outs and general support to the LV mechanics as required.
• Adhere to MMG’s workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Remuneration for this role includes a competitive salary package, annual bonus and generous local allowances for employees living in the local community of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.
