Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.

Mechanical Fitter

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for experienced and ambitious Fixed Plant  Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Dugald River Mine.

This role will be based on an 8/6 roster with night shift as required, bus in bus out (BIBO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa. Relocation support is available for candidates wishing to relocate to Cloncurry or Mt Isa and enjoy the benefits of living within our local communities.

Competencies & knowledge highly desired;

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a safety focus, be a strong problem solver and have extensive mechanical experience.

• Skilled in Fitter & Turner-Machinist /Fitter Welder tasks, including repairs, installations, servicing, overhauls, and commissioning.
• Mineral processing maintenance and repair experience with understanding of Jaw Crushers, Conveyor systems, Sag, Ball, Isa Mills, Floatation, Filtration and Pumping equipment.
• Capable of supervising small teams during Plant Shutdowns and major breakdowns when needed.
• Certified Dogman and Rigging Ticket holder (Basic & Intermediate).
• Experience in maintaining workshop machinery, mobile plant, cranage, rigging, and working-at-heights equipment.
• Provide underground maintenance of primary dewatering pump system
• Hydraulics knowledge and experience desirable
• Able to conduct risk assessments and support failure investigations.
• Literacy in a computerised maintenance management system such as SAP will be highly regarded.

Qualifications:

• Certification III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
• S1/2/3 or G1/8/9 supervisor certifications
• Queensland “C” & “HR” class Driver’s Licenses (Manual)
• Current First Aid, CPR, LVR,
• Working at Heights (W@H) ticket
• Confined Spaces Entry (CSE) ticket
• Non-Slew Crane, EWP, Forklift, and Dogman High Risk Licences
• Riggers (Basic & Intermediate) High Risk Licence
• Poly Welding ticket

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Apply Duty of Care under the Qld Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act.
• Ensure compliance with Department, Site, and Company Standards (Safe Task Management, Safe Work creation, Work Management).
• Maintain statutory compliance for fixed infrastructure and ensure a safe working culture.
• Ensure compliance in using, maintaining, and inspecting workshop machinery, tools, mobile plant, cranage, rigging, and working-at-heights equipment.

• Conduct Equipment & Machinery VOCs and assist in training new employees and apprentices.
