MMG has a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Mine Projects Coordinator to join our Mine Technical Services team at Rosebery Mine.
Rosebery is entering an exciting period of change, with major projects planned to increase production, extend mine life and improve our operations. From major underground infrastructure and rehabilitation through to ventilation, pumping, mine development and new access, there is a significant pipeline of work to be delivered.
Reporting to the Mine Technical Services Manager, you will take underground projects from concept and design through to procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. This is a hands-on role where you will solve engineering challenges, developing practical solutions, working with contractors and ultimately seeing your projects built and operating underground.
Working closely with Mine Technical Services, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and contractors, you will help turn ideas and technical requirements into practical solutions that work in a complex underground environment.
This is an opportunity to tackle complex projects turning engineering designs into safe, practical solutions, that can be successfully delivered in an operating underground mine.
Projects may include raiseboring, major rehabilitation, mine development, ventilation, pumping, major services, underground infrastructure, and other underground infrastructure.
Your responsibilities
- Develop project concepts, scopes, execution strategies, schedules and cost estimates.
- Work with technical disciplines to develop engineering designs into practical underground solutions.
- Challenge designs and construction methodologies to ensure they can be executed safely and efficiently underground.
- Coordinate tendering, contractor selection, procurement and mobilisation.
- Lead the transition from design into execution and coordinate project delivery underground.
- Work closely with contractors and Operations to resolve issues as projects progress.
- Manage safety, quality, cost, schedule, risk and change throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate inspections, commissioning, completion and handover into Operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes, construction methods and the way we deliver underground infrastructure.
- Maintain project documentation and provide clear progress and performance updates.
About you
- Practical experience working in an underground mining environment.
- Experience delivering or coordinating underground projects, infrastructure or major construction works.
- The ability to translate technical requirements and drawings into practical solutions
- Strong planning, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- An understanding of project scope, cost, schedule, risk and contractor management.
- Comfortable moving between engineering design, contractor discussions and the realities of underground execution.
- A hands-on, safety-focused approach and willingness to spend time underground seeing projects through from design to completion.
- Experience in raiseboring, rehabilitation, mine development, ventilation, pumping, services or major underground infrastructure will be highly regarded.
A relevant engineering, mining or project management qualification is desirable; however, significant practical underground mining and project delivery experience will also be considered.
