BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Water Services Supervisor will be responsible for providing technical expertise and coordinating the project execution, operations and maintenance activities of the water and wastewater section to ensure equipment availability, quality of supply, operational safety and efficient supply service delivery in the area of responsibility. The Water Services Supervisor will be responsible for safe, efficient, and compliant operation, maintenance and supervision of all site water services infrastructure, including raw water supply, potable water treatment, dewatering system, and wastewater management.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Supervising and coordinating daily operations of all water services, including potable water systems, process water systems, dewatering installations, and wastewater management.
- Monitoring and controlling water quality in line with MMG and Botswana standards, ensuring timely testing and reporting.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, and ensuring timely maintenance of pumps, pipelines, tanks, valves, and other water infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance with the Botswana MQWM act in relation to water services operations, maintenance, and supervision.
- Managing contractors and third-party service providers involved in water services.
- Organising and controlling disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the wastewater treatment plant.
- Supporting project teams during installation and commissioning of new water infrastructure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Diploma in Water Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification relevant experience in the Water and wastewater treatment environment, three (3) years of which should have been in system operations/ maintenance environment.
- Registration with ERB will be an added advantage.
