JUNIOR GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Junior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for providing full support to Geotechnical Technicians, to fully ensure all databases for Geotech are up to date and have accurate data, maintaining the underground monitoring system, and ensuring that planned Active Heading Inspections targets are met.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

• Performing underground mining/geotechnical engineering activities including design, development, test duties and responsibilities.
• Performing interface activities with underground crews carrying out ground support installation or quality assurance work.
• Analysing and recommending incorporation of technological advancements in techniques, principles, theories, equipment, and utilization.
• Collaborating with Geotechnical engineers to determine technical requirements and performance objectives of assigned projects.
• Conducting ScanIT core logging, mapping structures and carrying out other assessment methods implemented by the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology.
• Minimum of 3 years’ mining experience.
• Exposure to Geotechnical logging and mapping.
• Understanding of Rock Mass Classification Systems.
