Mine Geologist
We have an opportunity for an experienced Mine Geologist to join our Rosebery Underground Mine, reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist.
You will provide geological expertise to support safe and efficient mining, maximise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
This position is offered on an 8:6 roster, residential in Rosebery or DIDO from anywhere in Tasmania. Relocation support is available.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver underground grade control to maximise recovery and minimise dilution.
- Conduct stope and stockpile inspections, ore monitoring and mine reconciliation.
- Capture and interpret geological data through mapping, sampling and photogrammetry.
- Maintain geological models, databases and grade control processes.
- Work with planners and engineers to optimise extraction and support mine planning.
- Assist with drillhole logging and structural data collection.
- Supervise and mentor team members and contractors.
- Champion MMG’s safety and environmental values.
About you
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) or higher in Geoscience.
- At least two years’ mine geology experience.
- Experience with VHMS or base-metal deposits.
- Strong understanding of complex base-metal mineral systems.
- Knowledge of underground grade control practices and geological methodologies.
- Experience with 3D modelling, geological databases and QAQC protocols.
- Experience planning and managing drilling programs.
- Strong communication, collaboration and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong commitment to safe work practices and visible safety leadership.
