BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible delivering all short-term mine design requirements for the operation. The battery limits of this role start at receiving MSO and long-term development designs from the Long-Term Planning team and carrying through to final designs, as well as meeting drill and blast requirements for the operation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Preparing the Preliminary Mine Designs with direction from LOM.
- Drafting Conceptual Mine Designs as geological grade control drilling is completed.
- Creating, developing, and implementing detailed mine designs and plans to optimize extraction processes and maximize resource recovery.
- Working closely with geologists, surveyors, geotechnical and other engineering staff to plan mining operations and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensuring that stope designs and stope notes are done according to the 3-month schedule.
- Developing and monitoring production schedules to ensure operational targets are met on time.
- Maintaining design registers and ensuring they are aligned with the 3-month schedule.
- Designing and implementing drilling and blasting plans tailored to geological conditions for maximum efficiency.
- Coordinating with geologists, production teams, and contractors to align blasting activities with overall mine planning and production goals.
- Analyzing blast outcomes and adjusting techniques to improve fragmentation and reduce costs.
- Assisting with the development of ventilation circuits for mine design.
- Liaising with the Geotechnical department in the preparation of level designs, stope shapes and mining sequence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years underground mining engineering experience, with exposure to all mining operation and production phases and preferably in copper.
- Underground Mining Blasting License is highly regarded.
- Registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Botswana.

The Water Services Supervisor will be responsible for safe, efficient, and compliant operation, maintenance and supervision of all site water services infrastructure, including raw water supply, potable water treatment, dewatering system, and wastewater management.
MECHANICAL FOREMAN
