Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 800 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Coordinator – Mining
This is a rare and unique opportunity to join the site leadership of a global mining organisation with a vision for ambitious growth and an enviable record of community engagement, sustainability and safety.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Mining, as the Coordinator – Mining your primary purpose is to be the operational bridge. You translate the technical mine plan into safe, physical tonnes by coordinating crews and contractors. You own the rolling 2-week schedule. If the plan and the reality on the ground don't match, you are the person who resolves that misalignment.
This role is offered on a 8/6 roster BIBO from Cloncurry & Mt.Isa. Or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and align them with production plans.
- Facilitate team communication to prevent bottlenecks.
- Lead improvement projects and monitor mine schedules.
- Uphold safety procedures, investigate incidents, and support safety leadership.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with SHEC standards.
- Mentor supervisors to build a high-performance team.
- Provide guidance on operational issues and maintain contractor relationships.
About You
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
- Coordinate the execution of the 2-week production plan across shifts, ensuring all activities align with operational priorities.
- Maintain consistent communication with shift supervisors to ensure seamless handovers and clear understanding of production goals.
- Work closely with the technical team to meet production goals and ensure resources are available when needed.
- Facilitate handovers between development and production work groups.
- Foster strong working relationships with contractors to ensure collaboration and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered, your experience and skills should include:
- 7 years + underground metalliferous mining industry experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing teams and driving operational performance.
- Front-line supervisor experience is essential, with a strong ability to lead crews and manage on-the-ground challenges.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to manage a direct supervising team
- S1, S2, S3 competency
- Valid manual driver’s licence.
- Explosives Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
