Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical - Survey, this role is to ensure professional application of geotechnical principles to the day-to-day and mid term planning and operation of the underground mine at Rosebery.
This role ensures high-quality geotechnical data supports safe ground control, mine planning and design in line with the PMHMP and industry best practice. Responsibilities include managing geotechnical databases and monitoring systems, analysing ground conditions and rock falls, developing design criteria, identifying risks and mitigation strategies, supporting short- to medium-term mine planning, implementing TARP actions, and providing ground control training—all while upholding MMG’s Code of Conduct and values.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Mining or Geotechnical Engineering, affiliation with a recognised rock engineering association, and a valid driver’s licence.
- At least five plus years’ geotechnical experience in underground metalliferous mining, with proven supervisory experience and strong practical mining knowledge.
- Sound knowledge of relevant mining legislation, geotechnical obligations, mine planning processes and safety, environmental and community requirements.
- Experience with sub-level stoping, deep high-stress mining, converging ground conditions and seismic hazard management is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and mining software such as Deswik.
- An unwavering commitment to safety and the ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
