In April 2023, our commitment to a sustainable future saw the beginning of the Dugald River Solar Farm operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33%; this is just the start of our renewable energy transition. 

Mine Technical Services Superintendent 

Unique Leadership opportunity to provide integral support to the mine management team at Dugald River.  In this role you will be accountable for delivering optimum mining outputs as well as planning and improving delivery of mine technical services outputs.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will take a leadership role in the direction and coordination of the Mine Technical team. You will support and assist the Technical Services Manager to deliver against plans and strategic objectives by providing the technical expertise across mine design, planning, D&B, scheduling, ventilation, survey and geotechnical disciplines. 

You will lead in coordinating the teams’ initiatives, projects and sustainable solutions to continuously improve processes aligned with technical services and the underground environment, fostering a collaborative approach capable of mentoring and coaching future leaders. 

This role will be based on an 8/6, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of these locations.

Responsibilities include

• Leading multidisciplinary teams in Technical services (Geotechnical, Production, Survey, Planning, Ventilation)
• Delivery of short, medium term mine plans with input into long term plans
• Ensure reporting and compiling of data and variances are captured in line with current systems
• Supporting Operational Performance, delivering mine plans and targets
• Leading, mentoring and coaching technical staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative  environment that communicates key information  
• Provide inputs to the integrated planning and Life of Asset processes as required.
• Lead projects enhancing technical safety systems, business cases, technology trials supported by the business
• Deliver operations support for all technical processes
• Identify and support Cost/Efficiency improvements and optimisations for the mining operations
• Attend cross department meetings and preparing suitable material, reports as requested;

Qualifications, skills & competencies

• Technical degree in mine engineering and/or applicable discipline with preferred post tertiary qualifications in a technical or management discipline
• Knowledge of effective supervisory and leadership tools, techniques and methods
• Management and leadership of people, to deliver on plans, budgets, KPI’s and approved programmes of work.
• High level of capability to analyse and interpret a wide range of technical data from a performance and planning perspective with a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to create and develop strong and trusting relationships at all levels with a variety of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in showing initiative and achieving business outcomes in a mining environment
