Plant Operator

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Mobile Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy mobile equipment i.e. Front-End Loader, Crane Truck, Bob Cat and Forklift to move material, ore and product around workstations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

• Operating loaders and other heavy mobile equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with approved operating procedures and manufacturer requirements.
• Conducting pre-operational inspections and routine safety checks to ensure equipment is safe, functional and fit for operation.
• Performing basic equipment care and routine maintenance activities, including lubricating, fueling, cleaning and attending to minor operator-level requirements.
• Operating heavy mobile equipment and attachments to clean work areas, manage ground conditions and transfer ore and concentrate into designated chutes or handling points.
• Monitoring equipment condition and performance, identifying defects, abnormalities and unsafe conditions, taking corrective action where appropriate and reporting unresolved issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Reporting and recording incidents, near misses, process deviations and operational concerns, while communicating relevant information on work progress and equipment condition to Shift Supervisors and stakeholders.
• Adhering to Company policies, standard operating practices and the Code of Conduct, while performing other duties reasonably assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
• Participating in SHE, risk management and housekeeping initiatives while complying with all applicable safety, environmental and operational procedures and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• Minimum of Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE).
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a mining environment.
• Heavy Mobile Operator Certification required (Forklift, Front End Loader), Skid Steer and Backhoe is an added advantage.
