BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Graduate Metallurgist will be responsible for supporting the Metallurgy team in monitoring, optimizing, and improving plant performance through process monitoring, metallurgical accounting, test work, data analysis, and process assurance activities. The role will be providing practical exposure to mineral processing operations while developing technical, operational, and leadership competencies required for progression into a Metallurgist position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Assisting with daily monitoring of plant performance, metallurgical parameters, and key production indicators.
  • Conducting routine metallurgical sampling, surveys, and process audits and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Supporting metallurgical accounting activities, including metal balancing, reconciliation, and production reporting.
  • Participating in metallurgical test work, including flotation optimization, reagent evaluations, grind size assessments, and process improvement investigations.
  • Assisting with monitoring reagent consumption, stock movements, and dosage optimization initiatives.
  • Supporting troubleshooting activities by identifying and resolving process inefficiencies affecting recovery, grade, throughput, and concentrate quality.
  • Participating in plant inspections and process assurance activities to verify compliance with operating procedures.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement and cost reduction projects aimed at improving plant performance and operational efficiency.
  • Providing technical support during plant shutdowns, commissioning activities, and process changes.
  • Complying with all SHE policies, procedures, standards, and legal requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for registration with ERB.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: The Metallurgical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for providing reliable laboratory and sampling support to the Metallurgy Section of the Process Plant. The role will be supporting process monitoring, metallurgical test work, plant surveys, sampling, quality assurance and metallurgical accounting by generating accurate, timely and traceable laboratory data to support safe, stable and efficient plant performance.
