Advisor – Environment

Are you an enthusiastic environmental professional with a can-do attitude and a passion for making a difference? The Dugald River Mine is seeking a team member to join our dynamic Environment Team as we tackle climate change, embrace renewable energy, and expand our operations sustainably.

This role will be based on an 8/6, drive-in drive-out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly-in fly-out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.

The Role:

In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our environmental compliance and commitments. You'll be responsible for and support  various activities, including:

  • Support, engage and provide technical environmental advice to all areas of the Dugald River Mine to minimise environmental harm.
  • Undertake environmental monitoring requirements as mandated by the site environmental monitoring program and data analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Develop, implement and maintain environmental management and system documentation to reflect legal and MMG obligations, management of environmental risk and site practices.
  • Participate in identifying environmental risk and assuring mitigations to minimise environmental harm and maintain compliance.
  • Research, prepare and write environmental project proposals, reports and investigations as required.
  • Identification, development and implementation of environment and sustainability improvement initiatives and projects across all areas of the Dugald River Mine.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Law or relevant experience.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence (Manual) with 4WD experience highly desirable.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience in environmental sampling, results analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Broad understanding of mining and minerals processing and the potential environmental impacts relating to these practices.
  • (Optional but desirable) Experience with auditing and assurance processes at the site level.
  • (Optional but desirable) Experience with GIS and/ or other spatial technologies.

Remuneration for this role includes a competitive salary package, annual bonus and generous local allowances for employees living in the local community of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.

The role leads climate-related disclosure delivery, climate-related risk and opportunity processes, sustainability reporting, assurance readiness and disclosure controls. It requires strong climate knowledge and reporting capability to translate technical inputs into clear, evidence-based reporting and decision-making materials, while strategic direction and formal accountability remain with the Head of Sustainability.
