BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: 

The Fuel Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and cost-effective management of all fuel storage, dispensing, and distribution activities supporting mining operations in Botswana. The role ensures uninterrupted fuel supply to mobile mining equipment, plant, and support fleets; strict control of fuel losses and variances; compliance with Botswana statutory, environmental, and mine safety regulations; and effective supervision of fuel attendants and contractors.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Ensuring continuous availability of diesel, petrol, and lubricants to support production and plant uptime.
  • Managing daily fuel receiving, bulk storage, dispensing, and bowser operations across pits, workshops, and plant areas.
  • Planning and coordinating fuel deliveries in line with mine production plans and contractor requirements.
  • Performing daily, weekly, and month-end reconciliations between physical stock, system balances, bowser meters, and supplier invoices to ensure accurate recovery of fuel to contractors.
  • Investigating all fuel variances, losses, contamination, or suspected theft and implement corrective controls.
  • Verifying delivered volumes, densities, temperatures, and quality against delivery documentation and contracts.
  • Rejecting contaminated or short-delivered fuel and initiate claims or corrective actions.
  • Monitoring supplier turnaround time, delivery accuracy, and safety compliance on site.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE: 

  • BGCSE / Form 5 or equivalent
  • Certificate in Stores Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in stores, warehousing, or clerical support in a logistics or industrial environment
  • Experience using stock or ERP systems is preferred
  • Mining or construction materials exposure is an added advantage
  • Basic SHE and First Aid training is an added advantage
