Key Accountabilities or Activities
- Technical management and supervision of exploration programs including drilling, mapping, soil sampling, etc.
- Technical analysis of data and results, interpretation, and planning, optimization, and prioritization of drilling programs.
- Monitoring of drilling progress and “real-time” updating of the 3D deposits models.
- Plan and implement high quality, clearly focused, systematic technical programs to ensure that decision points are rapidly achieved. Rapid advancement of targets to drill status.
- Ensure holistic approach, ensuring full integration of all datasets incorporated into planning and targeting.
- Ensure exploration industry best practices are carried out by the team at all times during the course of the programs.
- Ensure creativity and innovation are routinely discussed and implemented during course of program.
- Supervision, mentoring and coaching of technical team, significantly raise the standard of technical capability.
- Conducting property/project evaluations for potential business development opportunities.
- Coordinate the compilation of exploration results and review project progress for reporting to senior management.
- Technical reporting – weekly, monthly, annual.
- Reporting to management, preparing and giving presentations.
Skills
- Computer literacy – MS Office products, QGIS or Mapinfo, Leapfrop, Maptek or Geosoft Target.
- High level technical exploration skills.
- Highly organized with excellent planning and execution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and drive exploration programs forward and deliver results.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical team, senior management, external parties, etc.
- Very strong conceptual, visualization, and analytical skills with the ability to be creative and innovative.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of sediment hosted Cu systems in the Congolese Copperbelt.
- Thorough knowledge of Exploration industry best practices.
Experience
- 10+ years of exploration experience
- Minimum 5 years base metal exploration experience.
- African experience mainly experiences in the Katanga Copperbelt.
- Experience in range of exploration projects from conceptual to grass roots to resource estimation and development.
- Technical supervision of teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology,
- MSc or PHD would be highly valued
- Driver’s license
- French and English or Mandarin language skills would be highly valued.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for providing geotechnical engineering expertise and support for underground and surface mining operations and projects. The role will be responsible for ground stability assessments, the design of ground support systems, monitoring and data analysis. It will also ensure safe, efficient and sustainable mine development in compliance with MMG-Khoemacau’s safety and environmental standards conservation outcomes through scientifically rigorous offset design, habitat restoration, and stakeholder collaboration.
