BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION 

The Camp Management Officer will be responsible for coordinating accommodation and camp operations for Chinese employees by providing language support, promoting cultural integration, ensuring effective communication between residents and service providers, and maintaining high standards of camp services, welfare, and compliance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key accountabilities include

  • Managing daily accommodation operations for camps with a high population of Chinese employees.
  • Serving as the primary communication link between Chinese residents, Facilities Department, contractors, and MMG management.
  • Translating verbal and written communication between English and Mandarin Chinese where required.
  • Assisting Chinese employees in reporting maintenance defects, accommodation concerns, transport requirements, and camp-related issues.
  • Monitoring housekeeping, catering, laundry, grounds maintenance, and accommodation services to ensure compliance with agreed service standards.
  • Supporting room allocations, check-in and check-out processes, and occupancy management.
  • Coordinating onboarding and orientation of new Chinese employees regarding camp rules, facilities, and emergency procedures.
  • Promoting cultural exchange activities that encourage positive interaction between Chinese and local employees.
  • Providing guidance to contractors on cultural expectations and communication practices when servicing Chinese residents.
  • Submitting regular reports to the Facilities Manager on camp operations, resident concerns, service delivery, and improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting emergency response activities by facilitating communication with Chinese-speaking employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE

  • Certificate in Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, translation or a related field.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in camp management, hospitality, accommodation management, or facilities operations.
  • Experience working with Chinese nationals or within a multicultural environment.
  • Previous mining or industrial camp experience will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in translation or interpretation is highly desirable.
